Assessing the last 25 years of social change

RTE’s Prime Time has been assessing the last 25 years of Irish life, including the social debates around issues like marriage, abortion and the Catholic Church. David Quinn took part in a panel discussion last week to discuss these matters.

David challenged that idea that Ireland has become an unambiguously more compassionate place as a result of the social changes of the last 25 years. He pointed to gangland violence, the coarsening of public debate, challenged the idea that abortion has anything to do with compassion and pointed to growing levels of family breakdown.
