A jolting display of anti-Catholic hatred in Argentina

Unnoticed
and unreported by most of the world’s media, on November 24 a group of several
thousand pro-choice demonstrators decided to descend on the Cathedral of San
Juan Bautista in the city of San Juan, Argentina. What resulted is deeply
disturbing to put it at its very mildest.

The women
had taken part in an annual feminist conference called the National Women’s
Encounter. Before the conference, the cathedral had received threats. In response,
and knowing what was coming, 1,500 men surrounded the cathedral linking arms in
order to protect it.

The video above shows the appalling treatment
meted out to them by the demonstrators. They are spat at. They are sprayed with
paint. They have invective hurled at them. The men simply stand there and
endure it all. There appear to be no police in sight. Inside the cathedral are several hundred more people praying with their bishop.

Outside,
the demonstrators also took it upon themselves to burn Pope Francis in effigy. If
you want a display of true hatred, here it is.
