Christmas parties increasing demand for morning-after pill

Christmas parties are pushing up demand for the morning-after-pill, it is being reported.

According to a story in today’s Daily Mail, more women are visiting family planning clinics after excess alcohol consumption.

The story says that clinics are opening over the Christmas period to cater to increased demand for the pill which acts as an abortifacient.

The reports come just days after the Crisis Pregnancy Agency launched a website aimed at encouraging teenagers to delay sex.

The website, b4udecide, gives teenagers advice on how to deal with pressure to have sex.

Figures show that figures for sexually transmitted infections have shot up in Ireland in the past 15 years.

There was a 173.8 per cent in notified STIs in Ireland between 1994 to 2003.
