Church and State under Enda Kenny

We are pleased to invite you to our next talk which is on this Thursday. It is
on the topic, ‘Church and State under Enda Kenny’. The speaker will be Iona
Institute director, David Quinn.

David will examine:

  • Mr Kenny’s relationship with and attitude towards the
    Catholic Church
  • His  famous post-Cloyne report speech and the
    closing of the embassy to the Holy See
  • His comment that he is a ‘Taoiseach who is a Catholic,
    but not a Catholic Taoiseach’
  • Plus the recent debate about abortion.

He will
also look at the attitude of the Government towards Church-run schools, towards
the family as well as examining the current state of relations between Church
and State generally.

Finally, he will examine the response of the Church towards these developments
and suggest what it might do.
