Iona Institute Director, David Quinn, was on Newstalk Drive yesterday debating the latest effort by the Vintners Federations of Ireland (VFI) to have the Good Friday ban on the sale of alcohol lifted. One reason the VFI want it lifted is that it annoys tourists. David Quinn made the point that the Germans have very heavy restrictions on Sunday trading and they don’t care if it annoys the tourists. They want some days that are not totally given over to the dictates of commerce.
