A 70-year-old pro-life demonstrator has been hospitalised after an unprovoked assault in Australia.
The victim, identified only as Greg and a member of the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants group, was undertaking a peaceful protest outside the Fertility Control Clinic in Albury, New South Wales, when he was approached by a younger man who begins to argue with Greg before assaulting him.
In video footage captured by a motorist parked nearby, and now available on the Lifesite website, the younger man is seen to lash out at Greg before throwing a punch which slams the victim to a wall and then to the pavement, apparently unconscious. As shocked witnesses rush to the elderly man’s aid, the younger man walks to his own car. Verbally abusing those attempting to help Greg, he tells them to “f—k off” before driving away.
Greg was subsequently ferried to hospital where doctors discovered he had suffered a fractured jaw as a result of the assault.
Social media in Australia has seen the reports of the attack and the linked video go viral, with universal condemnation for the attack on an elderly man, whom, it transpires, is a Vietnam veteran.
Pro-abortion groups have sought to distance themselves from the attacker, condemning his actions in responses to the incident.
