The Manhattan Declaration is a pro-marriage, pro-life, pro-religious freedom statement signed by dozens of Christian leaders in the  United States and by thousands of ordinary Christians.

It has inspired similar declarations in other countries, for example the Westminster Declaration and the Canberra Declaration.

Inevitably the Manhattan Declaration has been condemned by gay rights groups as ‘hateful’, ‘homophobic’ etc.

The Declaration was available on Apple iTunes and this earned the ire of gay rights groups. They targeted Apple demanding that they ban it and Apple duly obliged.

This is just one more example of the militancy of the gay rights movements. It began by demanding tolerance, moved on to demanding outright approval, and is now determined to silence all opposition. This movement claims to be about freedom and equality, but increasingly it is about censorship.

The pressure applied to Apple is just one small example of this. But there are many others that have been catalogued on this site. Think of the campaign against Miss California, Carrie Prejean, who believes in traditional marriage, or the attempt to sack Ken Howell, a Catholic lecturer in the US who also believes in traditional marriage.

Think also of the forced closure of Catholic adoption agencies, and the fining of photographers, printers etc who don’t want to facilitate same-sex marriage/civil partnerships.

Amazingly this movement advances under the banner of ‘tolerance’.
