Gays who don’t like marriage

Gays and lesbians are no more monolithic in their views than any other group within the population. With respect to marriage, for example, there are radical gay rights advocates who don’t believe in marriage for anyone. They believe marriage is a completely outdated institution that gays and lesbians should have nothing to do with it.

One gay writer with such a view is Mark Simpson who has this interesting piece in The Guardian. I’m glad to say he does not consider Miss California, Carrie Prejean, to be a bigot, nor does he believe anyone else who believes marriage should be between a man and a woman is a bigot either.
