The Genocide of Christians in the Middle East: a talk

A joint meeting of The Iona Institute and Aid to the Church in Need heard a talk by John Pontifex of Aid to the Church in Need UK in which he described what is happening to Christians and other religious minorities in ISIS-controlled areas of Syria and Iraq.

The meeting was attended by almost 200 people.

John explained why the treatment of religious minorities fully meets the UN definition of ‘genocide’. The US House of Representatives unanimously voted to recognise it as such, and the European Parliament did the same by a huge majority.

He called on the Irish Government to also recognise it as genocide.
