The madness of Pop’s parents

Liberal ideology is about the advancement of what one person has aptly called ‘equal freedom’. That is, we should all have equal freedom to pursue happiness in whatever way we want.

This ideology is so extreme that not even nature is allowed to stand in its way. To a very large extent, the existence of something called ‘nature’ is denied outright.

Therefore we have family diversity ideologues who insist that there is no such thing as the ‘natural’ family of mother, father and child which must be given special recognition by society. The family is whatever we want it to be and all families must be treated equally, they insist.

When the evidence is highlighted showing that the family based on the marriage of a man and a woman is generally the best place for children, it is simply denied and the person highlighting the evidence is accused of being prejudiced.

Similarly, feminists deny that the two ‘genders’ of man and woman are rooted in nature or biology. They say gender is a social construct, that there are more than two genders, and that men can choose to be women, and women can choose to be men, or something in between if they so wish (namely transsexuals).

A couple in Sweden have taken this ideology to its logical extreme. The couple have a child who is aged two-and-a-half. They refuse to say whether the child – called ‘Pop’ – is a boy or a girl. They fervently believe that ‘gender’ is a social construct, in other words, that it is society, our upbringing, rather than biology that turns us into boys and girls.

The mother told a Swedish newspaper: “We want Pop to grow up more freely and avoid being forced into a specific gender mould from the outset. It’s cruel to bring a child into the world with a blue or pink stamp on their forehead.”

Pop’s parents are very possibly the first in history to take this approach to child-rearing. Obviously the rest of the human race has been getting it wrong from the very beginning in letting boys be boys and girls be girls because, of course, it’s society, not nature that turns us into boys and girls.

Liberal ideology is now reaching a very extreme pitch, a level of fanaticism that appears to know no bounds. Its rebellion against the limits and givens of nature is now almost total.

Needless to say, the decision of Pop’s parents will not be greeted by media outrage because the media has itself bought into this extreme ideology and promotes it. At most it will think Pop’s parents are being a tad excessive rather than utterly barmy.
