The Meaning of Religious Freedom

The Meaning of Religious Freedom

A talk by Bishop Brendan Leahy

Chair: Professor Eamonn Conway

WHERE: STRAND HOTEL, LIMERICK

When: 8pm, Tuesday, June 17

 Admission: Free

Our next talk which will be delivered by the Catholic bishop of Limerick, Dr Brendan Leahy.

His topic will be ‘The Meaning of Religious Freedom’. This talk is particularly topical in view of the pressures on religious organisations such as schools and hospitals to conform to values that are often alien to Christianity. The same pressures often exist on Christians in the workplace.

In addition, there is a growing attempt to marginalise and ‘privatise’ Christianity and to prevent it taking a full part in public debates and in the life of the nation.

The Chair for the talk will be Professor Eamonn Conway of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, where he is head of Theology and Religious Studies.

The talk is being co-hosted by The Iona Institute and The Irish Catholic.

If you would like to attend please email [email protected] or phone 01 6619 204.

Tea and coffee will be served afterwards as usual.
