Raquel Welch was one of the great sex symbols of the 1960s. Now, in a true man-bites-dog manner she has condemned the Pill for ruining marriage and bringing about ‘social anarchy’ in the form of the sex revolution.
The Pill is ‘celebrating’ its 50th anniversary and Raquel was reflecting on the occasion in an article for CNN. She says in the article that the Pill had a “significant and enduring’” effect on women in that it gave them the idea that they could have sex without any consequences and the result today is that far fewer women (or men for that matter) see marriage as a ‘viable option’.”
She went on: ‘Seriously, folks, if an ageing sex symbol like me starts waving the red flag of caution over how low moral standards have plummeted, you know it’s gotta be pretty bad.’
So, Raquel Welch, a true child of the 1960s has cottoned on to the fact that the invention of the Pill wasn’t all good news and that the sex revolution hasn’t been all good news either. Will a few more people of her vintage begin to cotton on as well, or are they still in deep denial about the facts?
Here is her full article as it appears on the CNN website.
